UNSCRUPULOUS POLISHERS/DEALERS
There are some unscrupulous sword polishers/dealers/websites out there. At least one particular site based in the USA offers cheap polishing for Japanese swords, and proclaims to have a fully trained experienced Japanese Sword polisher. This is utter fabrication. Several fellow collectors have had their swords ruined, or stolen by this particular "polisher".
You should NEVER send your sword for polish to anyone who has not been recommended by at least one of the major collector websites or discussion lists currently active. Similarly do not send your sword to someone to "take a look at it for you", unless recommended by an independent and reputable source.
Contact someone reliable before parting with your sword!!
